About Us

Dr. Beth McCrary, a graduate of the University of Tennessee, has been practicing veterinary medicine in the Tidewater area for over 20 years. She loves being a veterinarian and finds it very rewarding to help animals and their human companions. Her interests include gardening and working with her Koi pond. She lives with her husband and son in Smithfield, and shares her home with all sorts of furry creatures.

Dr. Candace Cain, a graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, has been practicing for several years in the Hampton Roads area. She loves surgery and working with our overweight pets to get them back to their fit and trim selves. Dr. Cain loves rats and often adopts from local shelters when they need help. She lives in Suffolk with her husband and two children. She shares her home with dogs and cats, as well.

Ellen Norris, Hospital Manager, (artist and pet advocate) is a graduate of the University of Maryland, and has worked for several years with Dr. McCrary managing animal hospitals. She spends much of her time coordinating activities with local animal rescues and animal shelters. Ellen lives with her rescued cats and rabbits. She enjoys camping with her husband and cat, Symon.

Melissa Brown, LVT (Licensed Veterinary Technician), has been working with animals for over ten years. She is a graduate of San Juan College and received her licensure in 2016. She is an advocate for animals and takes her job very seriously. She shares her home with her Partner and Daughter. She has one dog, cats and a spoiled Beta Fish.

Alicia Martin has been working with our clinic since 2010. Alicia wears many hats and strives to provide our clients and their pets with excellent customer service. Since 2010 she has acquired a rabbit, several cats, a husband and two children. She also shares her home with her dog and food motivated turtle. And if we don’t mention her love for all things Bacon, she would be devastated.

Desiree Page has been with us full time since 2013. Once a confirmed Dog Lady, she has switched over to the Crazy Cat Lady side. She is an advocate for all things furry and works hard to provide our clients with exceptional customer service. She enjoys cooking and spending time with her husband and their pets.

Amber Griffey is our Smithfield born Veterinary Assistant, currently attending San Juan College for her Veterinary Technician Degree. Once afraid of rabbits, she is now our resident bunny rescuer and adopter. She lives with her dogs and strong willed rabbit, Carmen. When she’s not studying, she is binge watching one of many t.v. shows.

Bailey Banaszek is this youngest member of our clinic. She graduated high school in 2016 and has been working here while attending college. Her goal is to go to Veterinary School. She spends her time with multiple four legged, winged and finned members of her family. She is our resident aquarium aficionado.

Ashley Walker is part of our customer service dynamic duo. You can see Ashley and her Chihuahua, Tank, most days of the week at our front desk. She represents our clinic with kindness and a can do attitude. Ashley enjoys spending her time with her three dogs, two cats and horse, Rio.

Chloe' Griffin is the most recent addition to our team. As the other half of the customer service dynamic duo, you can see her most days at our front desk, helping clients and pets alike. She is also the proud owner and operator of Chloe's Cozy Critters, pet sitting service. Chloe' is becoming our Junior Crazy Cat Lady. She has added four cats to her home since she started working at the clinic.
